ABOUT AMY
Amy has always been a storyteller, working as a theatre and radio actor in London and across Europe for over a decade. Years of performing, across almost every theatrical genre, has given her a nuanced understanding of dialogue, story arcs and narrative voice, along with an innate connection with a story's audience, whether metres away in a performance space or listening in from around the world.
Upon becoming a parent Amy was drawn into the gorgeous, never-never land of children's picture books, half-reading, half-performing a new tale to her two boys every evening. In 2021, after years spent reading bedtime stories, she set about writing her own.

In 2022 whilst browsing profiles on Behance Amy discovered the work of Moldovan illustrator Graphic Bugs. She was instantly drawn to her unique, bold style and set about learning the craft of producing and publishing a picture book; 6 months later ‘How To Be Me’ was ready for publication. The book sold out after its first week in-store at Twickenham Waterstones and its launch was swiftly followed by invitations to local Schools for a series of highly-praised author visits. 'How To Be Me' went on to be shortlisted for the 2023 Searchlight ‘Best Illustrated Picture Book Award’ and the 2024 'Selfies Children's Book of the Year' award.
Amy is now working on her second book with Graphic Bugs, 'Alma and the Kindness Jars' which will be published Summer 2025.

ABOUT INK & PENCIL PUBLISHING
Ink & Pencil Publishing is a new craft publisher of beautifully illustrated and meaningfully written children's picture books. Our books are works of art that encourage the reader and listener to dive deep into them, inhabit their worlds, pore over them, possess them, share them, and of course read them aloud again and again and again. We establish creative collaborations with emerging artists and debut writers to celebrate the best in new global talent. Ink and Pencil Publishing is the author imprint of Amy Dodero. An author imprint is the name used by indie writers and self-publishing authors to publish their books, allowing them to bypass the powerful and often impenetrable mechanisms of the publishing industry and reach their readers directly, thereby retaining creative control of the their projects, maintaining a more direct connection with their readers and increasing their royalty payments.
